Chapter 6 out of 43 - So amazing… What kind of power was this? That he could make cotton candy lose its taste.
Su Xi had been wandering in the night with no memory of his life before death. His intelligence always remained at the level of a five year old child. He had little contact with humans, much less communication with them. But, he had once secretly observed those human children and heard them call out, “Older Sister.”
So in his inner world, he vaguely knew that a younger brother and older sister lived together.
The human in front of him felt very familiar. He also liked her smile and the warmth of her hand, so he let her hold his hand, and he kept looking up at her.
Su Yuanyuan was happy that the child did not reject her. She really wanted to talk to him more, but the boy disappeared again.
Su Yuanyuan: “...Is he trying to play hide and seek with me?"
888 said, "He probably left because he subconsciously feels he has to resolve his obsession.”
Su Yuanyuan: "..."
To be honest, Su Yuanyuan was very supportive of Su Xi's efforts to resolve his obsession. Resolving that obsession was unlikely to be hurting his adoptive parent’s child at this point in time. She thought Su Xi had gone to deal with that couple.
However, Su Xi’s comprehension hadn’t yet advanced enough for him to know that looking for that couple was what he wanted to do.
Even if he did know, Su Yuanyuan can't let him do anything yet. After all, the female lead, that big killing tool, could come out at any time.
And so, Su Yuanyuan was very worried about Su Xi. She hoped very much that he would stay with her, and then together, they can find a way to solve the matter of his adoptive parents.

The next day, when Su Yuanyuan couldn't find Su Xi, she was worried and wanted to go to the couple's home to look for him. However, the couple lived in a villa complex located in the mountains. It was a place where rich and powerful people dwelled. The residents of that villa complex had chauffeured cars and there was no bus there. Su Yuanyuan didn't even have the money to take a taxi that far.
Luckily, after one day, the boy came again. He appeared in the same place.
This time, Su Yuanyuan immediately picked him up and hugged him tightly. “Don't run away! Have a chat with your older sister.”
Su Xi stood there obediently, but Su Yuanyuan was about to be frozen by the temperature of his body.
"Younger brother, tell Older Sister where you live. If I can't find you, I'll be very worried."
Su Xi shook his head.
"Then ...... then you have to come to find Older Sister, okay? Older Sister sometimes doesn't come here to work, so you might not be able to find me by coming here. Can you follow me and I’ll show you where I live?”
This time, Su Xi nodded.
Su Yuanyuan was very happy. She continued holding him as she walked to the school. Eventually, it really was too cold for her to keep holding him, so she had to put him down.
The child wasn’t happy with this. He stood there and wouldn’t move.
She saw his wronged look, but there was nothing she could about it. She was sure she would get sick if she continued to hold him, and she was so poor that she couldn't afford to get sick.
Fortunately, she was good at coaxing children. After all, she had been frequently treated like a child in the past and had plenty of experience on the side of being coaxed.
And so, she hurried to a stand selling cotton candy by the side of the road and bought cotton candy for Su Xi. "Here, something sweet. Older Sister will hold your hand as we walk, okay?"
After Su Xi took the cotton candy, he looked at it, left and right, but he didn’t eat it.
Su Yuanyuan wondered; ghosts didn’t seem like they could eat… Should she burn it as an offering to him?
As she wondered, the cotton candy suddenly crumpled. The amount of cotton candy hadn’t been reduced, but it had flattened. She then saw a look of satisfaction on Su Xi's face. His little face looked happy.
Finding it odd, Su Yuanyuan licked the cotton candy and found that it was tasteless.
So amazing… What kind of power was this? That he could make cotton candy lose its taste.
Su Yuanyuan couldn't figure this out at all.
After eating the cotton candy, Su Xi felt better, and he followed Su Yuanyuan obediently.
When they arrived at the entrance of the school, Su Yuanyuan pointed to the school and said, "Older Sister lives inside here. Can you come here to look for me every day? I’ll buy you that cotton candy again.”
Su Xi nodded. "Buy me cotton candy to eat.”
Su Yuanyuan smiled. “Yes, I'll buy you cotton candy. Every day after dark, I'll come here to look for you and you’ll wait here for me. We'll go distribute balloons together at the night market.”
Su Xi nodded his head again.
Su Yuanyuan felt that this child was really well-behaved. He was so well-behaved that Su Yuanyuan almost overlooked the fact that he was no longer human.
However, when she was about to enter the school, the child followed her in.
Su Yuanyuan stopped. She looked around. Seeing that there was no one sound, she said, "Little Brother, Older Sister can't live with you now. There are other people living in the place where Older Sister lives. I can't take you there. Don't worry, Older Sister will make more money soon. After Older Sister rents an apartment, I’ll take you there. And we can live together, okay?”

The author of this story also wrote Su Yu’s Promotion Record in the ‘60s (“SYPR”). The first impression if you read both novels is probably that the main character of this story and that one are polar opposites, but these two novels share common themes. 1) That good intentions by themselves aren’t enough and can have harmful consequences. 2) That people aren’t irredeemably bad. There are exceptions to that for truly awful people like Su Xi’s adoptive parents and SYPR’s original owner’s ex-boyfriend. The main characters will come up with satisfying, tailored ways to get back at them.
